Academy Mission

Teachers gain science confidence, transversal skills and practical routes into new STEM education practice.

The academy brings together universities, schools, education ministries, science centres, associations and industry partners across Europe. Its work is organised around teacher competence, digital skills, sustainability, mobility, micro-credentials and dissemination.

Project Pathway

From shared expertise to classroom-ready STEM practice.

01

Connect expertise

Universities, schools and partner organisations align teacher education needs across national contexts.

02

Build capacity

Hybrid seminars and trainer workshops strengthen STEM, digital and sustainability education competences.

03

Pilot learning routes

Modules, micro-credentials and mobility formats are tested with educators and practice schools.

04

Share impact

Outputs, policy-facing results and open materials support wider European use.

Project Objectives

The academy keeps the full project ambition visible, from teacher competences to policy impact.

Work Packages

Six connected workstreams guide the project from coordination to European outreach.

WP1

Management and Quality

Coordination, quality assurance, sustainability and mutual recognition of learning outcomes.

Led by the University of Tartu, this workstream safeguards delivery, quality monitoring and the long-term independence strategy.

WP2

Science Competencies

Capacity building for STEM staff in green deal, medicine and cultural-linguistic diversity.

Partners identify best practices and build staff capacity through hybrid seminars and train-the-trainers workshops.

WP3

Digital Skills

Pedagogically meaningful use of digital tools, collaborative learning and digital STEM materials.

The University of Eastern Finland leads teacher training, digital tool guidance and the collaboratively created STEM DigiManual.

WP4

Micro-credentials

Flexible modules and micro-credential programmes tested with practice schools and teachers.

The work designs four micro-credential programmes and six modules, with piloting through practice schools across partner countries.

WP5

Communities and Mobility

Job shadowing, local hybrid mobility, international visits and co-supervision pilots.

ELTE coordinates communities of practice, the acaSTEMy Hub, mobility formats and joint master thesis supervision pilots.

WP6

Impact and Dissemination

European outreach, dissemination events and policy-facing communication.

The Ivo Pilar Institute supports outreach to teachers, researchers, schools, policy institutions and associated partners.

Training, Materials and Outputs

Project outputs are grouped around quality, digital skills, modules, mobility and impact.
